Aikido Outdoors (grades 2-8)
First class is 4/20. No class 5/25.
Aikido, a martial art designed to foster harmony in our world with others, happening after school at Cherry Valley. Aikido is a Martial Art focused on harmonizing with what "attacks" and challenges life throws at us. We'll train outside, learning fundamental techniques safely with partners, learning how to blend and harmonize through wrist grabbing, a bit of rolling, and use Aiki Weapons. Two principal Aiki Weapons are a wooden sword called a "Bokken" and a wooden staff called a "Jo". The focus will be on Five Key Aikido Principles for growth: Energy 気, Wisdom 知恵, Virtue 徳, Body体, Social Intelligence 識
Liam has been training in Aikido for over 15 years, and has trained in Japan and around the world with many notable teachers of Aikido. He's been teaching in arts education for over 20 years with a wide variety of student ages and backgrounds. He brings diverse teaching experience to Aikido Training including different ways to understand the art. Students will receive a Special Aikido T-Shirt for their Spring Training!

Jewelry Making (grades K-6)

In this engaging class, students will explore their creativity and enhance their fine motor skills while crafting unique, wearable jewelry. Each week introduces a new project, including necklaces, earrings, bracelets, bag charms, hair jewelry and more!
With over 14 years of experience teaching jewelry making to children, Julia is excited to share her passion for this art form with your child.

Coach Matt is back to help your kids sharpen their basketball skills! The first half of each class will cover fundamentals—dribbling, passing, shooting, defense, and team play—followed by a light scrimmage with Matt acting as both ref and coach. Above all, the goals are simple: show improvement and have fun—because that’s the point, right? New players will be matched thoughtfully so everyone plays at a balanced level. See your kids on the outside court this spring—just in time for March Madness!

Building on the momentum of ‘Pop Art,’ Parker-Anderson Enrichment is excited to offer ‘Surreal Art,’ a hands-on class where students explore the dreamlike worlds of Salvador Dali, Frida Kahlo, and Rene Magritte. Kids will see how these visionary artists transformed their inner lives into bold visual language, then channel their own dreamscapes through drawing, painting, and mixed media. Through their art, students will bring the rich symbolism of dreams to life, turning imagination into playful, unexpected creations. Join us in ‘Surreal Art,’ where melting clocks and floating apples are nothing out of the ordinary.

Petaluma Kinder Music (TK and K)
First class is 4/22
Petaluma Kinder Music is a program designed to give TK and Kindergarten students an opportunity to sing, listen, dance, and play with a wide array of instruments and musical styles.
The class provides a space where students can be exposed to musical concepts and early performance opportunities while in the company of their peers. Petaluma Kinder Music intends to kickstart early music education within the context of a fun, inviting class filled with interesting games, engaging songs, exciting new instruments and musical crafting/art time. The 7-week course will culminate in a musical performance for parents and friends during the last class.
The class is co-taught by local music educators and performers Julia Cramer and Tyler Johnson, who developed the curriculum based on the 25+ years of experience they share in the field of music performance and education. They are also new to the Cherry Valley community, with their daughter beginning TK this year.

Clay Creations (grades 1-8)
First class is 4/22
Come join Joan Lindt and PLAY WITH CLAY! During this hour and a half class, kids will learn hand building skills while creating new treasures that they will enjoy for years to come. The possibilities are endless and may include: bird's nests, fairy houses, pocket vases, flower pots, porcupine pencil holders, animals, or garden creatures. Your child can also make cups, bowls, plates, along with cars, trucks, and other fun vehicles. The projects are only limited by the imagination. Returning students will do projects of their choice. Max 12 students.

Athlete Training (grades TK-8)
First class is 4/22
This class starts with an active warm-up, then moves into several different sports during the program (basketball, soccer, volleyball, etc). Emphasis on kids learning to control mind and body as an athlete by pushing it to fail. Students then apply athleticism to their ability to listen for instructions, work on team building skills and an array of other drills, games, and activities.
The Program and Coach Paige have been at Cherry Valley since 2011. The Program has many years of coaching and athletic experience. Coach Paige played basketball and baseball while at SSU and he became the 1st baseball player to ever receive Academic All American Honors and went on to play for the Philadelphia Phillies. He currently is the head coach of Santa Rosa High's Varsity baseball team and was recently inducted into the SSU Hall of Fame for both baseball and basketball. He is First Aid and CPR certified.

Performance Workshop: Improv & Stage Skills (grades 4-8)

Step into the spotlight and let your creativity shine! This theater-based workshop invites students to explore performance in a fun, supportive, and low-pressure environment. Designed for 4th-8th graders, the class focuses on building stage presence, creativity, and collaboration through improv games, character development, and ensemble activities. No scripts, no pressure - just imagination, confidence and a whole lot of fun! Max 25 students.

Chess for Kids (grades K-8)

All Levels of skill are welcome! Studies have found hidden rewards for students of chess: ~ Critical and logical thinking skills ~ Improved concentration, pattern recognition and memory. Our 6-week program will focus on the basic principles of the games. Beginning students are taught how the pieces move and the object of the game. Returning students from the previous year learn the tactics and strategies of winning chess games. The goals of the program are to improve concentration, focus, memory, and visualization.
